POLICEMEN COMMENDED

(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, March 18. Four Whangarei policemen received letters of commendation today for their part in a siege in Norfolk Street, Whangarei, last July when a man held the police at bay for most of a day. The four officers are Detective Senior-Sergeant L. F. O’Shea, Sergeant D. W. McConnell, and Constables W. W. Hastings and J. Malcolm. The presentations were made by Superintendent C. O. Taylor.
