(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter-—Copyright) LONDON. The Wimbledon champion, Mrs A. Jones, of Britain announced yesterday that she • will not defend her women’s singles title in June. She said that preparing for Wimbledon was a big strain, ! “and T am not sure if I want , to go through it all agajn." But. Mrs Jones stressed, it did not mean she was retir- : ing from all tennis. “I still want to play as much as I can and would love to play : in the Wightman Cup,” she added.
