The appointments will be on contract for 2, 21 or 3 years. Amounts are in Fijian dollars (SFIOO equals SA101.50: 8NZ101.50). Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in architecture and should be an associate member of a recognised architectural institute with practical experience in design and contract supervision and administration since qualifying. Experience in the design of office accommodation, schools, hospitals, postal and other government buildings will be an advantage. BASIC SALARY: $F2184-$F4362. GENERAL CONDITIONS: The point of entry into the basic salary scales in each case wiil depend upon the qualifications and experience of the applicant. In addition to the basic salaries attached to individual posts, the following conditions are common to all posts. OVERSEAS SERVICE ALLOWANCE: A nontaxable allowance is payable by the British Government at rates on a scale varying with level of basic salary. These rates are from £StgsoB at 8F2184 basic salary to £StgB29 8F4362 basic salary (£StglOO equals 8F209.) GRATUITY: A gratuity of 25 per cent of total salary and allowance received' during resident service and approved leave is payable on satisfactory completion of contract. That part of the gratuity relating to the allowance is non-taxable. LEAVE: Overseas leave on full salary and allowance is allowed on completion of contract at the rate of 3j or 4 days for each completed month of resident service, plus 12 days local leave annually. PASSAGES: Economy class air passages are provided for successful applicants, their wives, and up to 4 children under the age of 19 to and from Fiji. EDUCATION ALLOWANCES: Substantial allowances are paid by the British Government covering school fees and air fares for two visits a year to Fiji for children being educated abroad. HOUSING: Government or rented quarters with heavy furniture will be provided for a married officer for a rental of 10 per cent of salary to 8F2400 and 3 per cent of that part, of salary in excess of that figure. A married officer without children, but accompanied by his wife, may be allocated a flat. Single officers will be accommodated if possible in bachelor’s quarters for a rental at half the rate mentioned above.
