Seats For Bus Passengers
Sir, —On occasions during the last 17 years 1 have written to the Transport Board ' on certain matters and have always received satisfaction. ' My latest effort requested that a seat be provided at the ’ junction of Colombo and ' Wordsworth Streets. Letter 1 dated Monday. February 2: seat in position Thursday. ’ February”" 5. Of your com- ’ plaining correspondents not 1 one gives positive indication, " by quotation, of having writ- ’ ten to the board and stated ; his case. If it is necessary, let ' me assure the complainers I have no “pull” with the Transport Board and 1 would not know Mr Fardell from the proverbial bar of soap. No car, cannot drive. Thank you, ’ Transport Board.—Yours, etc., 75 NOT OUT. ‘ February 24, 1970. [ Sir, —As a frequent user of ; this bus route, I would like to 1 support the tentative pro- ! posal put forward in “Ham’s” ’ letter about seating accom--1 modation for waiting bus pas- ’ sengers at the north Fendal- * ton stop. It may well be that ’ “they also serve who only ’ stand and wait.” but it can be ! more agreeable to sit. The ’ site suggested by “Ham" ! against the post office would 1 afford waiting passengers • some protection from the ■ southerly winds, a clear view of their approaching buses, and a minimum of encroachment on the car park or interference with can using the Clyde Road entrance to the . park. If some form of head 1 cover could also be provided, ’ so much the better.—Yours, ’ etc., WAITING.
