TWO PLAYERS IN AN “OCTOPUSH” MATCH.—A new sport, played In swimming pools by two teams of six people, is becoming popular in Europe. The object of the game is to propel the “squid” (a small lead disc) along the bottom of the pool into the opposing team’s goal. The subtleties of “Octopush” include backing up the man with the squid so that he can be replaced quickly when his breath runs out, and rotating exhausted players to the back of the field. The game originated in London, where there are about a dozen teams, and has spread to South Africa, France, and the Netherlands.
