NATURAL GAS

Future For Industry

Gas use in New Zealand had always been minimal, but the industry could look forward to an exciting future, the general manager of the Auckland Gas Company (Mr A Veart) said in an address on marketing at the annua! conference of the Gas Association of New Zealand yesterday.

"It is only now. with the production of natural gas. that we can go ahead.” he said.

Over the years New Zealand had been a country of high-cost gas production and. as a result, the industry was controlled by engineers and accountants. “We must orientate ourselves in the new concept. In the future we must be a selling industry We must asked: ‘What appliances does the community want?’ and provide them.”
