Profit-taking Impedes Australian Markets
After a strong opening, shares were subjected to heavy profit-taking on Australian 1 i stock exchanges yesterday and most closed at I the worst levels of the day.
Poseidon was one of the few to move against the trend, adding 500 c at 27.500 c, after a bullish report by a London broker. Samin rose 100 c to 2600 c. Mount Isa. which began well in response to higher profits, fell back to close unchanged at 1580 c. Oils were mixed: Beach rose 35c to 440 c in anticipaI tion of the Maui results to be j announced next week Industrials were firm. Slater Walker closed 5c up at 495 c—below its best. B.H.P. and C.S.R. were steady.
