Clean Sweep By Vertogen (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. M. Vertogen, the captain of the West Coast, North Island team, took all the senior titles at the national grass-track cycling championships at McLean Park, Napier, yesterday. The West Coast team won the National Championships Points Cup, beating Auckland for the third year in succession by one point. Vertogen won the senior halfmile, mile, and three-mile events and also took the Pennington Cup for the invitation quarter-mile. More than 80 cyclists competed in the championships which were held in clear, sunny weather on a fast track. Results:— Senior Half-mile.—M. Vertogen (W.C. N. 1.), 1; D. Gee (Wellington), 2; P. Mathew (Auckland), 3. Time: Imin 9.9 sec. Senior One Mile. —Vertogen, 1; K. Goldsworthy (Auckland), 2; V. Hanaray (W.C. N. 1.), 3. Time: 2min 52.35ec. Senior Three-mile.—Vertogen, 1; T. Aitcheson (East Coast), 2; C. Clinton (Wellington), 3. Time: 7min 11.9 sec. Junior Two-mile.—R. Nant (W.C. N. 1.), 1: K. Cross (Auckland), 2; B. Ulyatt (East Coast), 3. Time: 4min 59.45ec. Junior Half-mile.—D. Lindsay (Auckland), I; R. Lawrie (East Coast), 2; B. McAuley (W.C. N. 1.), 3. Time: Imin 9.2 sec. Boys’ One Mile.—P. Medhurst (Auckland). 1: C. Davis (Wellington), 2; I.
