Headquarters Moved

The headquarters of the investigation of the death of Miss Jennifer Mary Beard, aged 25, a schoolteacher, from Tasmania, were moved from Lake Moeraki, South Westland, to Christchurch on Saturday. The body of Miss Beard was found under the Haast River bridge on January 19. Detective Inspector E. T. Mitten, the officer in charge of the investigation, has returned to Christchurch. Special police squads throughout the country face a huge task, finding the owners of about 26,000 Vauxhall cars 1953-57 models, the Press Association reports. Detective Inspector Mitten said that arrangements for the new move were still being made. Three thousand owners of green Vauxhalls had already reported to the police.
