HELP FOR NIGERIA
Appeal By Mr Kirk An appeal to all New Zealanders to support the special Nigeria appeal launched by C.0.R.5.0. and the national committee of U.N.I.C.E.F. was made last night by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk). Many New Zealanders were deeply concerned about the suffering in Nigeria, said Mr Kirk. During the war circumstances frustrated the efforts of many who were anxious to help. However, practical opportunities for relief and rehabilitation assistance were now available.
“There is intense urgency for funds and C.0.R.5.0. and the U.N.I.C.E.F. national committee have been quick to respond. The success of the appeal should be a foregone conclusion and I urge all New Zealanders to join in assisting the relief of suffering in a fellow Commonwealth country in the interests of common humanity,” said Mr Kirk.
