Togo had a big reputation two years ago, but last season he was continually fractious and seemed disinterested in competition. He is doing better this season, and it took a good run by Bellamour to beat him by a neck last week after be had made all the pace. Atria’s performance last week was most attractive. She has taken time to come to form this season, but her run in the Jackson Stakes must have been little inferior to her winning performance at Ashhurst a fortnight before.

She tracked Game and Kalgoorlie closely last week, and although she had no chance of making up the length they had on her, she ensured that lit did not increase in the j rugged final quarter. The English light-weight, ■D. Cullen, will ride Arria again and the promising apprentice, J. Skinner, will be on Togo.
