Beer Costs

Sir, —Even though I live in a favoured town, with the added attraction of a cent a drink less than most other beer quaffers pay, 1 am not fully satisfied. You see, lam a victim of precision. Though my thirst is saving me money, hand over fist, 1 want to know a little more about the 9c I pay for a 7oz glass. In Melbourne the same amount would cost me 14 cents. But in paying it I know that I am giving the publican 7.2 cents, the Commonwealth Government 5 cents, the brewery 1.42 cents, and the State Government 0.38 cents. Can you find out for me, please, how much of n;y money goes where? —Yours, etc:,

COMMON CENTS. December 30, 1969. [This letter was referred to Dominion Breweres, Ltd, but no reply has been received. Ed., “The Press.”
