ANTISTATE AID

Submissions Planned Submissions opposing the granting of more State aid to private schools would be made by the Christchurch AntiFurther State Aid to Private Schools Committee to the re-cently-announced Government commission set up to hear submissions on State Aid, the chairman of the committee (Mr C. Marshall) said yesterday. The committee felt that the commission’s hearings should be open to the public, because all parents were interested in the subject, Mr Marshall said. His committee had not yet been told if the hearings would in fact be open, but would in any event be giving copies of its submissions to the newspapers. A petition against further State aid, got up by the committee last year, would be mentioned to the commission, and would be presented to Parliament
