Aristoc In Form
"The Press" Special service PALMERSTON NORTH. Awapunl stables will have two runners In Aristoc and Champion Road in tomorrow’s Wanganui Cup, but only Aristoc galloped yesterday morning. Champion Road was given two rounds on the plough and pulled up well. R. B. Marsh will now ride Champion Road In the first leg of the double. Aristoc will be ridden by J. Messent. Flying Crest and Count Kereru will not start in the second leg. the Flying Handicap. N. Eales is not Inclined to risk Flying Crest on the firm track at this stage of his preparation unless there is a late change in the weather. Count Kereru received a kick from another horse and a leg Is troubling him. He galloped well earlier this week, but the trouble flared up soon after. On the plough Aristoc and Tree Tops ran seven furlongs In Imin 36sec. the last three in 39sec. They finished together and Aristoc looks ready for a bold race in the Wanganui Cup. Arkoi and Little Annie did well to run five furlongs in Imin 3 2-ssec. the last three in 38 2-ssec. This was good time and both look ready for bold efforts In their respective races at Wanganui. The unpredictable Fair Ally amazed track watchers by running half a mile in 49 4 s,ec the last three in 37sec. Della Royal started In front of him. but Fair Ally ran ahead near the finish. This was nearly three seconds faster than anvthlng else over the distance Fair Ally will race at Woodville next week.
