Convictions Under No-remittance Cases
l.Xeic Zealand Press Association > AUCKLAND. Feb. 5. The first of a number of prosecutions against people with overseas funds who have imported cars into New Zealand for people without the necessary overseas funds were brought before the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today.
Christine Rose Willie was charged that in June, 1968, she made a false declaration when obtaining an import licence for a 52845 Ford Cortina, that the car was for her personal use. She pleaded guilty. She also pleaded guilty to selling a 1967 Ford Faleon sedan worth 32346, between March and May, 1967, which under its import licence should not have been sold within one year of importation.

Prosecuting for the Customs Department, Mr W. D. Baragwanath said the prosecutions followed investigations which revealed that people with overseas funds had used their funds to import cars undei- the noremittance import licence scheme for delivery to third parties who did not possess the necessary funds. Mr W. K. L.
