BOMBING MISHAP

I A United States StratofortI ress bomber accidentally I dropped 50,0001 b of bombs near a village in north-east (Thailand on Monday, the| United States Embassy inf Bangkok disclosed today. : Two Thai women were | injured, one seriously, and I three buildings were slightly damaged. The giant four-engined i bomber had taken off from its; base at Utapao on a mission over Vietnam, and the mis-, hap occurred 35 miles east of the provincial capital of Roi Et, 164 miles north-east of Bangkok. A United States • Embassy spokesman said that the cause of the mishap was not yet known, but it was believed that a mechanical or; electrical fault occurred. It was not due to any error on the’part of the crew of the aircraft, but an inquiry was being held. The aircraft dropped 108 j bombs—B4 of them weighing! 5001 b and the remainder 750! lb. All landed in a sparsely! inhabited area midway be-1 tween two small villages. .
