FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone covering the south Tasman Sea and the South Island is slowly losing intensity and the south-easterly air stream over the North Island is decreasing slowly. Forecast: Canterbury, Buller and Westland.— Moderate variable winds, sea breezes about the coasts. Outlook: fine and mild. Marlborough and Nelson.—Southerlies, fresh at first in exposed places about Cook Strait, otherwise winds moderate and variable; cloudy this morning but becoming fine and mild by the afternoon.
