Lake Supporter

The hope that the pubtie would save Lake Manapouri was expressed yesterday by an American geologist, Mr W. Bred, of Ohio State University, who recently returned from Antarctica. “Some years ago the United States Government's Bureau of Reclamation attempted to build two dams in, the Grand Canyon. The Sierra Club and numerous other conservationminded organisations got gether and opposed the Government move. So great was the support of the people in this opposition that the Government had to drop the plan. I hope you can do the same here with Manapouri,” he said.
