GAME AT PEAK

"The Press” Special Service HASTINGS. Game worked most impressively at Hastings yesterday morning, confirming the impression gained earlier in the week that he would be at his best for the Jackson Stakes at Wanganui tomorrow.

On the plough, which was inclined to be holding. Game (Lundy) ran half a mile effortlessly in 53 3-ssec, the last three in 40sec.

Calibar (E. Jones) and Fraternize (Innes) took 51 3-ssec for half a mile, the last three in 38 2-ssec.

Wellcourt (Kirke) took 37 3-ssec for three furlongs, and Deep Image, which may be hard to beat at Wairoa, ran 39sec.

Relampago (Marsh), which has freshened since that good fourth in the Christmas Handicap at Awapuni, ran an easy three furlongs in 39 2-ssec. The promising two-year-olds, Riverview (Dodds) and Multan (Julius), ran half a mile boldly in 50sec, the last three in 37sec. Latin (Hercock), the pre-post-favourite for the Te Kupenga Hack Handicap at Wairoa, worked brilliantly over six furlongs in Imin 18 l-ssec, the last three in 39sec.
