SOUTHDOWN RAM FAIR
Prices Up For Good Sheep
“The Press’ 1 Special Service INVERCARGILL, Jan. 19. Canterbury buyers and breeders were well represented at the twentieth annual stud Southdown Ram Fair at Invercargill today. . * Seventy rams were offered and 38 sold at auction for an average of 1327 on a market that was buoyant for good sheep but not interested in average types.
The average compared well with last year’s figure of 6246 and the 1968 level of $299.
The market was dominated by good rams from two southern studs—F. E. Holroyd’s Greenvale Stud, at Wright’s Bush and J. D. and W. T. Robertson s Merryvale Stud at Waikoikoi.
