Mess Time Impresses
••The Preee" Special Service PALMERSTON NOBTH. Mesa Time was the moat impressive Otaki candidate to gallop at Awapuni yesterday morning. He recorded good time for five furlongs and must be conceded a good chance in the Hurttlnl Handicap. The plough was still bolding slightly after recent rein, but the other galloping tracks were In good order. Working 60 feet from the rails on the course proper. Far Quest came right away from Sarelie over the final stages of six furlongs in Imin 17 3-ssec, and had something in reserve over the final three in 38 3-ssec. Might finished clear of Stormy King after six furlongs In Imln 20sec, and was not kicked out over the final three in 49sec. He should be prominent at the finish of the Tararua Highweight on Saturday. On the inside trail Mesa Time was revelling in his work throughout five furlongs in Imln Seec. He was bard on the bit at the post and could easily credit C. O'Styke with his first winner tomorrow.
On the plough, Bscsmeoo was not asked for his beet in a run over seven furlongs. He completed his task in Imin Msec, taking 40 2-ssec for the last three furlongs. He looks in splendid condition. Champion Road worked quietly once around the track before sprinting five furlongs in Imin 4 3-Ssec, with the final three in 38 3-saec. He carried a heavy weight, yet he could have gone much faster.
