MAIL LEFT IN SHIP

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. Nearly 3000 bags of mail from Britain was left on board the Oriana when it left Auckland at noon on Saturday. The Post Office said today that the mail had been taken to Suva, and if possible would be transferred to the Orsova, which is due in Auckland on December 18. The Post Office had 1777 bags of mail for the United States and Canada but only 50 bags were loaded in the Oriana. Arrangements have now been made for thjs mail to be carried in the' Crusader, which will leave New Plymouth on Wednesday. The Oriana also left behind 200 of the 400 bags intended for Suva and Lautoka, which will be taken by the Waimate. The Post Office will have discussions with the shipping company to avoid a repetition of the incident.
