Prizes at the Sacred Heart Girls’ College prize-giving were riresented by the Homan CathoIc Bishop ot Christchurch (the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby) at the
Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Prizes were as follows: Dux of school (gold medal presented by Past Pupils' Association): Diane chandler. MacDonald Cup for leadership: Anne Lockington. Dhyrberg Cup for service to the school: Kathleen Gillespie. Harnett General Excellence Cup: Ann Davison. Mother M. Xavier Memorial Prize for English (presented by Miss C. O’Gorman): Valerie Smith. French Cup and diploma of music prizes: Dianne Duffy. Mother M. Claudia Memorial Prize for geography (presented by Kir and Mrs F. Dobbs): Susan Reedy. Natalie Simpson Prize for biology and Resident Pupils’ Prize for leadership: Mary Harnett. Moira Ford Memorial Prize for English (presented by Mrs Rathbun) and ,first in class Form VIB: Alison Simpson. Mills Cup for English: Bernadette Noldus and Susan Moore. Phyllis Gale Prize for sportsmanship: Annette Cavanagh. Beatrice Dressmaking Cup: Maryanne Ford. Commercial Cup: Frances Carr. Mary Dennehy Memorial Prize for art (presented by Mrs Hayden): Margaret Spragg. Casey Rosebowl sports award: Mary Laugesen. First in Class:—Form VIB: Alison Simpson. Form VA: Robyn Hunt.
