HOME FOR AGED

Central Otago Proposal (tt.z. rrtu Association; DUNEDIN, Nov. 11. A 30-bed residential home for the aged of Central Otago, which is expected to cost $200,000. is to be established at Alexandra. This has been approved in principle by the Department of Health. The Presbyterian Social Service Association, acting on behalf of the combined committee formed following the public meeting held in Decern 1968, negotiated with the Department of Health for approval for the establishment of such a home in the area, the superintendent of the association (Mr C. D. F. Bowie) said today. It was thought that the first phase of the home should be considered on the basis of accommodation for 20 to 25 men and women, who were unable to live on their own and were in need of supervision and assistance. Advice had now been received from the Department of Health supporting a 30-bed home.
