RACING Royal Tudor-Cantostan For Double Today

Royal Tudor and Cantostan might bring off a notable double for their sire, Pakistan 11, at Riccarton today. They have outstanding form claims for two of the major races, which also form the T A.B. concession double, on the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's New Zealand Cup meeting.

Royal Tudor is top. weight with 9-0 in the Canterbury Gold Cup, a limited handicap. This is scale weight for a four-year-old and Royal Tudor easily mastered his 9-0 in the weight-for-age Harcourt Stakes at Trentham last month. Every Post is the only other four-yetr-old in the field, and Far Time will be the lone representative for the three-yearolds. But there are some talented “elder statesmen" in the field, one such being the New Zealand Cup winner. Middy, which is showing no effects of a fast-run two miles last Saturday. Cantostan is almost certain of the favourite's role in the Jockey Club Handicap after a orilliant and unlucky third in the Stewards' Handicap on New Zealand Cup day. First-day form also gives the Riccarton Handicap winner, Mica, one of the stronger chances, although many will have just as much respect for the chance of the consistent Red Chips and might, with justification, hold Slide-! rule in high regard as a I light-weight Both Red Chips and Slide- j rule are newcomers at the! meeting. Fields. riders, and form! comments are:— Unless otherwise stated, races mentioned were at Biccarton last Saturday. Noon-
