ACCIDENT STUDY

Agricultural Pilots <N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 10. The records of 30 agricultural aircraft pilots involved in accidents in the first six months of this year show that one pilot had been involved in nine accidents, and nine pilots had been involved in four or more accidents previously. This information is contained in an agricultural aircraft accident summary published by the office of air accidents investigation, Ministry of Transport. The accident rate for the first quarter of 1969 of 5.84 accidents per 10,000 hours flown, was substantially higher than the rate of 3.75 for the last' quarter of 1968. However, there were 21 accidents in the first quarter this year, and this decreased to nine for the second quarter. Between January 1 and June 30 thia year, eight aircraft were destroyed and 22 suffered substantial damage. ’ March was the worst month for agricultural aircraft accidents, with nine.
