OFF-SHORE RACE

Th# first and the longest offs shore race in the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club’s programme will be sailed this week-end, starting from Lyttelton at 6 p.m. on Friday. The course will follow a triangular path round a buoy laid off the Waunakariri River another off Little Akaloa. Depending on the condition#, it could take up to 40 hours u> complete two rounds of th# course. If light condition* prevail, the yachts may be at sea for two nights. Navigational skill will therefore play a mijdt role in the race. 4. There will be two division#, an A and B class fleet, handicapped by performance and ,-a Royal Ocean Racing Club division, handicapped by rating. Known starters include Prospector (R.
