Sewing-Machine On The Head
Tribal women in South Africa could carry enormous weights on their heeds, Dr Una Porter told a recent meeting at the Christchurch Y.W.C.A. She showed a slide of two women standing erect with what appeared to be big bags of corn on their heads. “And I have also seen women carying a sewing machine on the head and a baby on the back,” Dr Porter said.
