TAXI FARES INCREASED
(N.z. Press Assectatton) WELLINGTON, Nov. 10. Taxi fares in Wellington were increased today, in accordance with a ruling by Judge K. G. Archer, for the Transport Charges Appeal Authority. Telephoned orders, previously sc, have been doubled, and after the first passenger, 5c extra will be charged for each additional one. Previously, 5c extra was charged for each additional passenger after the first two. A charge of 5c will also be made for every piece of luggage carried in the’boot of a taxi. Until today, the first piece of luggage carried in the boot had been free. • Aft appeal by the Wellington branch of the Taxi Proprietors, Federation against the decision, dated April 2 this year, was dismissed by Judge Archer.
