Re-election For McEwen

(N.Z. Press Association) CANBERRA, November 10. The Deputy Prime Minister of Australia (Mr John McEwen) was today re-elected leader of the Country Party, the smaller partner in the Liberal-Country Party coalition Government Mr McEwen, who is 69, and has led the Country Party since 1958, announced last month that he planned to retire in a year. His re-election to leadership came this afternoon at a Country Party caucus meeting. Mr McEwen, who is also Minister of Trade, is the longest-serving among the 125 members of* the House of Representatives.
