Peace Bid By Cattin

(N.Z.P.A.-Kouter—Copyright) ROME, Nov. 10. The Italian Minister of Labour (Mr Carlo Cattin) will intervene directly today in the running battles between unions and employers which have brought Chaos to Italy’s industry for two months. Mr Cattin will meet' .the two sides in the engineering and metal industries to try to persuade them to reopen the talks which broke down last week.

But already tile unions have made it clear that they are not enthusiastic about the Government’s first direct intervention, and observers see Mr Cattin’s chances of settling the dispute as very slight..
