FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Pressures are low to the south of New Zealand; a disturbed west to southwest airflow covers the south Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.— Winds strong west to north-west inland and fresh westerlies predominating elsewhere; sho were in the Alps and foothills; mainly fine elsewhere; mild. Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast. —North-west winds reaching gale force at times about the Sounds; mostly fine and mild but some showers on the ranges. Nelson. Winds from the westerly quarter strong at times in exposed places; occasional rain on the western ranges; mainly fine elsewhere. Buller and Westland.—Westerlies freshening at times; cool with showers. Outlook: mainly fine east of the ranges.
