Guy Motors has announced a new three-axle tractor unit, the i B - T - I S , . es iF?® <l ‘o haul long T&nl-trauess -capable of carrying container payloads of up .to 30 tons. There is a choice of power units and transmissions. The most powerful engine is a 14-litre six-cylinder unit developing 310 p.h.p. and it can be coupled to a nine-speed gearbox. Albion Motors has announced a four-wheeled Super Clydesdale turbocharged tractor and a six-wheeled Super Reiver turbocharged tipper. The tractor has a 24-ton gross vehicle weight limit, the tipper a 20-ton limit. The 6.5-utre turbocharged engine used produces 1-55 b.b.p. at 2600 r.p.m. and 3701b/ft of torque at 1600 r.p.m. to 1800 r.p.m. A sixspeed gearbox is standard, a 10speed unit optional. Anticipating higher British legal gross weights .for articulated vehicles AEC, Ltd, has announced a new three-axle tractor units, the V 8 Mammoth Major, with a 44-ton gross vehicle weight limit and powered by a 272 b.h.p. engine. The unit can be fitted with sixspeed or 10-speed gearboxes or with a 10-speed semi-automatic transmission. The engine is a 13.3-litre unit producing 6381b/Tt of torque at 1400 r.p.m.
