How To Ploy

Ten-pin bowling calls for the use of three basic deliveries. A straight ball will serve the beginner best, but more experienced bowlers use the curve and the hook ball. The bowler receives two balls for each frame (10 set pins) and a game consists of 10 frames. He would therefore use a maximum of 20 balls a game. To play a perfect game a bowler would have to score the possible of 300, which would mean he scored with 12 consecutive strikes. When all 10 pins of the frame have been knocked : down with the first ball, the ■ bowler has scored a “strike.” < By knocking down all 10 pins after using the second ball,

• the bowler has scored a : "spare." The personal aspect of the game is further enhanced because the onus is on the player to keep his own scorecard, whereas overseas all is done completely automatically. Free instruction on all aspects of the game will be available to all beginners at the centre, and can be arranged by appointment. In order to protect the surface of the lanes, regulation footwear must be worn at the centre, and will be available for hire (at a token fee of sc) or purchase. Bowlers must provide a pair of socks to be worn with the shoes, but other equipment such as bowling balls and bags will be be available for purchase.
