Kiwi Travels
For a flightless, bird, a young kiwi chick has travelled a long way in the last. week. The three-week-old bird’s mother was killed last week by a pig hunter’s dog at Fern Flat, near Kaitaia, and an-Internal Affairs Department officer (Mr P. J. Howard) last Thursday brought the bird back to Auckland. On Wednesday morning the chick was sent, by air to the department’s Mount Bruce Game reserve, north rtf Masterton.—(P.A.) ,
