Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Salad vegetables again met a strong demand at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Cooking vegetables and fryit remained at the rates earlier in the week. Carrots rose 50c from Monday’s prices, and radishes 10c. Cauliflowers were 80c cheaper, and parsnips fell 50c. The prices of swedes, potatoes, parsley and French beans stayed the same. The official price range supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers' Association was:— Silver Beet.—To SI a case. Beetroot.—To *1.20 a case. Pumpkins.—To *l2 a sack. Cabbages.—To *1.50 a case. Carrots.—To *2 a sugar. bag. Cauliflowers.—sl.so to SI.SO a case. Onions.—To $2 a sugar-bag. Parsnips.—Sl.so to $2 » case. Swedes.—sl.2o a bag. Potatoes.—To SI a sugar-bag. Spring Onions.—To SI.IO a dozen bunches. Radishes.—To 00c a dozen bunches. Parsley.—To 8c a bunch. Lettuces.—2oc to $1.60 a case.. i Leeks.—4oc to $1 _a case. French Beans.—To 80c a I pound.
