VIETNAM APPEAL
‘Great Demand 7 For Huts (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, October 23. The prefabricated huts sent to South Vietnam earlier this year were in great demand, the chairman of the huts for Vietnam national appeal (Mr J. Stuart-Menzies of Te Puna) said today. He said a letter from the commander of New Zealand forces in Vietnam (Lieutenant Colonel K. C. Fenton) stated that the reaction to the huts had been most favourable, and was contributing a 10l towards creating good will between the two countries. The letter stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Social Welfare would like many more huts. Mr Stuart-Menzies said a vigorous campaign would be undertaken early next year tb enlist support from the seven New Zealand universities for the construction of more huts. “We do not want their money, only their time and labour,” he said.
