WATER POLO TEAM

The former Auckland representative, B. Haslett, is the only newcomer in the Canterbury water polo team to meet the New Zealand secondary schoolboys’ side on Sunday. The team, announced yesterday by Messrs E. Tuyn and M. C. Scott is: I. L. Gunthorp (captain), Haslett, M. J. M. Hay, R. A. Leach, T. M. McGirr, B. M. Mustchin, M. C. Scott, R. Gunthorp. B. G. Spear. Apart from the inclusion of-Haslett, who has impressed in each of his two matches for Wharenui, the only changes from the team which defeated the Rest, 7-5, a fortnight ago are R. Gunthorp and Mustchin, who replace K. B. Thornton and P. Carpinter. The omission of Carpinter is a surprise after his good showing against the Rest, but the selectors have shown a preference toward more experenced players. Thorton will not be available after the end of the university year and so has reliquished his place in favour of one who will be in Christchurch.
