CHEQUER BOARD

Oamaru Start Unlikely Although Chequer Board is an acceptor for the Hannon Memorial Handicap at Oamaru next Monday, it is most unlikely that he will start. “He’s had a fair amount of racing lately and I want to keep him fresh for the New Zealand Cup," said his trainer, J. A Carmichael, yesterday. “J don’t think he will race in the Kaikoura Cup, either.” Carmichael intends giving Chequer Board a fun at the cup trials at Addington Raceway on November 6. Stella Frost, too, wKI complete her New Zealand Cup preparation with a run at trials on November 6. “If I think she needs another run I can start her at Pleasant Point on November 8. or at the organised training at Addington on the Sunday before the cup.” said her trainer, D. J. Townley.
