BARRIER TRIALS
Promising Run By Aqualette Aqualette and Early Sunrise, both products ot sires from the Morwenstow Stud, Kaiapoi, won two of three heats for two-vear-oids in barrier trials on the trial grass at Blccarton yeaterday. Aqualette. a bay filly by Fountainbead from Amulette, trained by C. McDonald for Mr J. C. McCarthy, will make her race debut in the Morwenstow Handicap at Rangiora on Labour Day. She won the second heat by a length from a group of other youngsters. Early Sunrise (Sedgewick— Belisande), winner of the first heat, is being prepared by J. Lalor for the Morwenstow studmaster, Mr D. B. C. AHin. Neil's Bard was clearly superior to the other two youngfeters in the third heat, finishing well clear. Neils Bard is by Plko’s sire. Ayrshire Bard, from Clinker's Glory, and was bought by Mr J. Y. Scales for >l4OO at the South Island Thoroughbred Sale in August. An attractive chestnut. Nell’s Bard had not been tested for speed by R. P. Register until yesterday.
