The market at the first main Invercargill wool sale today was officially quoted as being 24 per cent easier than last week’s Timaru sale for fine and medium crossbred fleece, and in buyers’ favour for coarse and strong crossbred fleece. It was 2i per cent to 5 per cent cheaper for crossbred hoggets, and fully 2) per cent cheaper for skirtings and oddments. Wool offered on account of the Wool Commission sold at rates comparable with the
new season’s clip. Its scoured wool also met a steady demand. The offering was 29,358 bales, 10,048 being on account of the commission. The new season’s offering was made up of 32 per cent fleece wool, 28 per cent woolly hogget, 10 per cent shorn hogget, and the balance usual oddments.
