SOCKBURN HAS NEW COACH
The Sockburn Park Swimming Club is to have a new professional coach—-Mr J. J. Pattison, a man who has achieved success in many spheres of the sport in Waikato.
Mr Pattison, who will take up his duties on Saturday, is secretary of the Professional Coaches’ Association and is a former secretary of the Cambridge club. In this capacity he helped raise a good deal of money for a heated pool in the town, s Swimmers from his squad have broken more than 100 Waikato records. His star pupil is Debbie Fisher, the New Zealand and New South Wales under 14 gold medallist in freestyle last season. Bom in Christchurch, Mr Pattison learnt to swim at the Wharenui club; later he won Waikato titles and broke records, and represented his centre at the national championships.
At Sockbum Park he will supervise the coaching of a squad of leading competitors, as well as teaching children to swim.
