BLAND TO TRANSFER
May Live In S. Africa (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) BULAWAYO. The cricket international, K. C. Bland, the latest casualty of the Anglo-Rhodesian dispute, said yesterday he was seriously considering leaving Rhodesia to settle in South Africa. The Rhodesian-born batsman said he was negotiating for a job in South Africa and expected to know whether he would be leaving in a fe.w weeks. The British Minister for Sport (Mr Denis Howell) warned that Bland would not be allowed to enter Britain on a Rhodesian passport if selected for next year’s South African cricket tour. Mr Howell said that he personally did not want the South African tour to take place because the team would be picked on a racial basis. He also warned there would be trouble from antiapartheid demonstrators. Bland comemnted yesterday: “I hope the Springboks do go, even in the face of demonstrations.”
He had experienced similar demonstrations, and added: “They are quite funny really. But I don’t think they should be allowed to interfere with the game of cricket They must be controlled.”
