Free Care For Fijians
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct 22. The Government had decided to provide free specialist treatment in New Zealand for Fijians from next year, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) said today. The Fijian authorities had asked that treatment be provided where there were no facilities available for such treatment in Fiji. The Fiji Government had agreed to meet the fares and incidental travelling expenses of the patient, but the New Zealand Government would meet the. full cost of the specialist treatment and hospital costs while in New Zealand.
The number expected to require such-treatment in New Zealand was small, the Minister said.
