Tails, won again yesterday when he won the $5OOO Coongy Handicap (12 furlongs) at Caulfield Tails’s victory meant that the New Zealand mare. Lochcourt, is assured of a place in the field for the Caulfield Cup on Saturday. Two of the Coongy runners— Bergman and Floodlight—could have gained a place in the cup field at the expense of Lochcourt had they won. but neither was equal to the task. The New Zealand-bred Bergman, a six-year-old by Dogger Bank, filled third place, with Floodlight sixth. Bergman and Floodlight headed the field at the two furlongs but then Tails shot clear He was untroubled to win bv three lengths from Port Douglas with Bergman halt a length away. The New Zealand-bred Astound was fifth behind Stay Fresh, with the New Zealand horse. Fans, elgthth. Padetheway, which will run in the Caulfield Cup. was last.
