OVERSEAS TRADING

SYDNEY All sections of the market continued to trade very actively with rises outnumbering falls. Oils once again generally attracted the most attention although nickel stocks Poseidon. Carr Boyd and All States sold well and rose during the day’s trading. Poseidon closed at 2950 after touching 3150. Among the oils. Genoa and Beach were the favourites although most stocks had a moderate lift. B.H.P. led the in-’ dustrials to close higher at 1450.

MELBOURNE Prices were generally firmer on the Melbourne Stock Exchange, with Poseidon rising again to 3000 c and closing later at 2900 c, for an increase on the day of 150 c. In the mining and oil section rises outnumbered falls 79 to 67. Beach was a market favourite, rising 35c to 290 c. Western Mining fell 25c to 1230 c. Other stocks to ease included VAM. Mineral Deposits, and A.l Consolidated. B.H.P. rose 40c to 1460 c. Dunlop, Kempthorne Mistral and Slater Walker all firmed.
