Mt Cook Post Office To Open Soon

’ . /From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. I The new Mount Cook post office will open for business at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 31, and the new automatic telephone exchange will be brought into service on the same day. This was announced today by Mr R. L. G. Talbot, Member of Parliament for Ashburton, on advice from the Acting Postmaster-General (Mr Seath). Designed by Post Office architects to blend with the alpine environment, the new building has a floor area of 1650 sq. ft. 'lt was built by Hall and Duncan. Ltd, of Timaru, at a contract price Of $36,427.

I The office is about S(M» yards from the Hermitage, in the proposed commercial area. It will replace the existing post office accommodation in the Hermitage. The automatic exchange housed in the new building will replace the present service provided through the private-branch automatic exchange in the Hermitage.
