Ellesmere Gun Club
Two club championships were derided at the Ellesmere Gun Club’s week-end shoot. They were the sparrow day and’ single barrel events. Possibles were recorded in the preliminary eye-opener by A. A. Peterson. L. H. Greenwood, C. Mclver. W. B. Ford, I. Forbes. M. Thian, I. Winchester. R. H. Washbourne and W. E. Moorhead. The only club member to register a possible of 15 breaks In the sparrow clay title event. C. C. Skinner, took the honours, though a visiting shooter, I. Forbes, who also had 15 on. was not eligible for the chatnplonebip. With 14 breaks were Peterson. Greenwood, Ford, Thian. Winchester, P. G. Washbourne, W. D. M. West and S. R. Maw. who shot off for runner-up. Maw winning from west and Greenwood. There was another clear-cut win in the single barrel championship, R. H. Washbourne leading with a possible of 20. Two competitors with 19. Thian and West, shot off for second place. West winning on the eighth target. Peterson. Ford and E. L. F. Donald each scored In a novelty event the successful shooters were Skinner. Mclver, B. H. and P. G. Washbourne.
Sports Honour.—The axeman. G. was named as Marlboroukh’s “sportsman of 1 the year’ T at a function in Blenheim on Saturday night. Hocquard broke the world 1 record 15tn standing and underhand chopping events at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney this year.
