“The Press" Special Service
HASTINGS. Game, one of the early favourite, for th* Harcourt Stake, on the final day of th* Trentham meeting, and Bluffing, e candidate In th* Walnut Handicap, recorded good trial* at Hastings yesterday morning.
The maidens Blue Anchor and Spacerate, which will race during the meeting, were also impressive, as was Beach Boy. Track conditions were ideal. The plough was slightly holding and the course proper, with the trestles well outside the proper distance, was firm. Game worked once round on the plough in Imin 44sec, the last six furlongs in Imin 21 4-5 sec, and the last three furlongs in 41 2-ssee. This was a solid gallop. On the course proper, Bluffing <D. Wlthington) and Jasbo (L Careton) ran six furlongs in Imin 17sec the last three furlongs in 39sec. Bluffing has improved with his two races this season and might be a threat in the Walnui Handicap. Jaabo is in the Heretaung* Hack Handicap and could be better than an outside chance. Practice, which is in the Wellington Handicap, was given steady work. He ran a useful race at Masterton and is certain to be one of the favourites on Saturday. Fram and Leon worked on the plough and ran an easy five furlongs In imin lOsec, the last three in 4Qsec. Red Nib and Consulate worked together over half a mile on the plough. They took 53 2-Ssec, the last three in 40sec.
