STATE ADVANCES CORPORATION ’ 3550 STUDY AWARDS IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS FOR STUDY in architecture are offered by the State Services Commission for 1970. These awards provide excellent opportunities for students to attend University full-time to complete the degree of Bachelor of Architecture or the Diploma in Architecture at the University of Auckland, thus enabling them to qualify professionally for a career in the Public Service. School leavers who have included physics and mathematics in their University Entrance and Higher School Certificate passes are eligible to apply. Applications are also invited from students who have completed, or who hope to complete this year, Architecture Intermediate or any subsequent stage in study for a degree in architecture. Provided that satisfactory progress is maintained the awards are renewed annually until the degree or diploma is completed. ALLOWANCES (a) The Architectural Study Awards are tenable with University Fees or Fees and Allowances Bursaries and with Junior Scholarships. In addition, an allowance of $3OO for the academic year is paid. (b) Boarding allowance when applicable for Fees and allowances Bursars will be paid by the Education Department. A bursar who is eligible for a Fees Bursary only and who is required to live away from home, will be paid a boarding allowance of $2OO for the academic year by his department (c) A married student will be paid a marriage allowance of $350 each academic year in addition to other allowances. This allowance will be reduced by the amount of any boarding allowance received. After graduation successful applicants are required to serve in the Public Service for a number qf years equal to that for which assistance has been granted. Application forms and further information on the terms and conditions of these awards may be obtained from the Commissioner of Works, Post Office Box 12041, Wellington North, with whom applications close on November 7, 1969.
